Our History
Bettie & Al Trope
In January of 2000, the Tropes sold BB&T to OP Contract of San Francisco, and retired to the home they built in the Virgin Islands. Many of their employees continued on under the new ownership.
However, Bettie’s retirement was short lived. On Friday, the 13th of September 2002, the new owners went out of business. The next day, Bettie flew back to Santa Rosa and gathered together a new leadership team with BB&T employees Christina Pratt, Charlie Nicholls and Candy Patocka. A new business was formed, appropriately named Trope Group.
A month later, the doors of the Santa Rosa showroom and warehouse were open for business again and Trope Group began the process of purchasing the assets of the former company.
The initial team of twelve employees was eager to reunite their 200+ years of combined industry experience to carry on the tradition of providing quality Herman Miller product and contract facilities management for their North Bay customers.
Bettie retired again in 2006 after helping to create a sustainable business with a qualified, experienced leadership team in place.
In the spring of 2011, Candy retired after 25 years of successfully managing projects for many North Bay clients including the County of Sonoma, PG&E and Exchange Bank. Candy cared a great deal about the quality of our work and instilled that value through the entire organization. She is now working on her golf game and volunteering in the community.
